SPOTLIGHT: Chevignon Leather Jacket

July 2026

Some garments deserve more than a quick glance on a rail, they deserve a second chance. And this beautifully-aged Chevignon vintage leather jacket is one of them.

Founded in France in 1979, Chevignon built a reputation for producing high-quality leather jackets inspired by classic American aviation and military styles. During the late 1980s and 1990s, the brand became synonymous with rugged luxury, using premium hides, robust construction techniques and timeless designs built to last.

This particular jacket likely dates from the late 1980s or early 1990s.

Buying a new Chevignon leather jacket represented a serious investment. Equivalent models today would easily retail for £700-£1,000 or more, while sought-after vintage examples continue to command strong prices because of their quality, rarity and enduring appeal.

Over time, the jacket’s soft lambskin leather has developed an incredible patina, gaining depth, texture and character that simply cannot be replicated in a factory. The creases, colour variations and subtle signs of wear are all part of its story, making it a one-of-a-kind piece.

Recently, the jacket underwent a careful repair to restore its condition while preserving its authenticity. Rather than replacing its history, the restoration respects it, allowing the jacket to continue its journey for many more years.

It’s now ready for a new owner and another chapter in its story.

Rescuing garments like this goes beyond fashion. Leather production is resource intensive, and extending the life of an existing jacket is one of the most sustainable choices we can make. Every restored vintage piece reduces demand for new manufacturing, keeps clothing out of landfill and celebrates an era when garments were repaired rather than replaced.

At Velvet Revival we believe clothing should have a lifespan measured in decades, not years.

This Chevignon jacket is proof that great design, skilled craftsmanship and quality materials stand the test of time. Thirty years on it still looks fantastic, still feels incredible and still has many adventures ahead of it.
